Oooh yess..

Imagine 8 stansteds, linked together by bus, but with less efficient security staff for hand luggage screening and considerably less efficient passport control. Then add into the mix that every plane, including the huge 747s and other intercontinentals, has remote docking areas and has to bus the passengers into a terminal building. Once at the terminal passengers then have to find their way to the bus stop and get a bus to another terminal, not every bus goes to every terminal.
I am extremely good at getting through airports fast, even so I need 1 hour 15 mins to get between 2 non-Schengen flights (i.e without going through passport control). If you need to immigrate into Schengen area add another 45 mins because you need to go passport control and security as well, and god help you if you need to go through passport control at lunchtime because they close all the counters except one.

AirFrance often only allows 45 minutes between connecting flights.
