Honestly, it was a nightmare. I have had to work very hard at anger management in my life, so for me it felt extremely awkward to simply write a polite letter & turn the other cheek, but I don't want to let one stupid lady who isn't worth a damn to effect my personality for the worse. Is there a certain occupation you are aspiring to? I have been behind on everyone's journals because of all this bullshit, but I could have sworn I read something about you entering school... I hope you never have to deal with jerk employers either. Some people really love to throw their power around, no matter how miniscule the so-called power. Sad, really. Personally, I find kindness so much more motivating than cruelty.
The Sound Production HND sounds like a good plan. I was interested in doing something like that... At the very least, the endeavor should add a degree of fullness to your life. Keep us posted. :-)
You made the right move to leave. Nobody should work for a person like that. And, as you said, she doesn't know what she's talking about. HTML is code, but it is not programming. You will be better off. I know you are a talented and creative person. You will excel at whatever you decide to do. Freelancing is hard because the money ebbs and flows. But, you're used to that too. I've been there, I liked the challenges, but I prefer the steadiness of a paycheck. You know, if there is anything I can do for you, I will. I am currently looking for a programmer for my staff, but I need Cold Fusion and SQL Server experience as well as HTML and CSS. And I don't think you want to live in the Midwest anyway.
What is even more ridiculous is that, originally, she had hired a graphic designer to do server-side scripting. I laughed for a while about that one. I truly am amazed at how many people think that back-end Web development is HTML, & front-end design is Photoshop. My god, I wish it was so simple. Right now, I know HTML/CSS, JS/jQuery, & ActionScript, & relatively soon will be learning PHP & MySQL... It seems that back-end work is more employable, as far as I know. Thanks for providing me a sense of validation in your response. I will definitely keep you in mind as I move forward with these endeavors. :-)
