Hey Army! And hi to any new members.

o1. I'll be taking over the remix. How's everyone going with it? Would you like me to screen submissions and then stagger the posting of remixes over December? Remember the deadline is December 5th. Comment, comment, コメントをして!!

o2. it's a little late for a Christmas one, so how about some kind of New Years ( Read more... )

remix, community stuff

I don't know about the userinfo incident. I think I assumed it had been removed for privacy reasons.

"active" members
I actually wasn't talking about comm activity, merely about who out of the 33 maintainers I know to be actually active in administering the community.

I do think we should reassess the "invited" authors that weren't part of the core group from the start.
Like, assessing their writing?

I think that it may be better just to give posting access to invited authors instead of mod abilities
Yup, that's all I was suggesting.

Ah, well I am using the dictionary meaning of administrate which to me connotes layout, tagging, profile, posting access, organisation, etc. I see contests and challenges as a participatory category, not the actual running of the community. I certainly wasn't suggesting you be removed ^^;

I'm afraid I missed that one.. '.';
As to standards....well, like you said it's not clear-cut. I guess someone needs to take draw up guidelines.

Okay. I'll amend this post, asking those who wish to stay to comment.

Heyhey, I don't really consider myself in a position where I can have any strong opinion on any of this, as I consider myself still a humble newbie who really fancies this community and votes for anything that will keep it going (and this comment will not be one of the good ones, I feel my mind descending into slippery linguistic madness, but who could resist that request? I comment I comment!).

I never got the whole maintainer bit in the first place, really, myself. I'd be in a corner fending off dust bunnies if asked to do a challenge and I wouldn't ever dare to muck about the community in the moderator sort of capacity, so why give me the opportunity?

Anyway, I fully support anything you guys conclude, as long as it's not closing the place down or kicking me out or both in reversed order. Right. I'm going now. :3

XD I'm with you on the voting for anything that'll keep it going, I love this place ♥

...neither did I. But I wasn't here right at the beginning so...maybe there was reasoning that I missed ^^

Thank youuuuu~ I'm certainly not looking to kick anyone out!

I kind of like the idea of everyone being equal as a maintainer, but I guess then we'd need to do something like voting on new members. I don't think there should necessarily be a distinction between core people who started in the comm and people who joined later, as long as they fit in with what the comm was originally created for. It does make sense to only have one main journal per person as a moderator even if we do all stay as moderators though.

I prefer things being equal & open (in fact this is the only community I've ever joined that has a sort of moderated membership, because I'm ideologically opposed to that sort of thing), but I just don't think that we need 33 maintainers.

I agree...I don't see why there should be a distinction (I haven't been here since the very beginning...) but
as long as they fit in with what the comm was originally created for.
^ I think that the comm has been operating outside of the original idea since I've been here? I remember when I was making the userinfo, someone clued me in that when it was created people were too busy for it, or something, so we ended up just filling in the gaps. So honestly I don't know if anything I've done for this comm fits with the original idea because I'm still not sure what the original idea was...D:

And um yeah....I wasn't the one who made my ficjournal a mod lol.

Yeah, we don't need that many maintainers, definitely XD And I guess there isn't really a power difference if anyone who wants to be a maintainer can be one, but I just like the idea of all of us being trusted to be an equal member of the community, so I don't want maintainer-status to be something which divides us. As long as that doesn't happen, well yeah, we don't need that many XD I don't have an issue with things being neat or anything but I guess if it bugs you guys then fair enough.

Okay, not necessarily originally created for but what it is, which is a community for good writers who write j-fic, who are looking for a bit of a challenge maybe and who accept each other's differences.

I was originally invited with my ficjournal, but it does make sense for it to be de-maintainered since I mostly use this one for actual communication.

hehehehe don't get me started on power! you'll have me pulling out the Foucault ;P but what i do is...tagging, layout, profile, memories...stuff like that. it's more..necessary than powerful. like being a janitor >.>;;;;

*pets* i like your opinion! it being the same as mine and all ;D

why do you need inspiration for a remixxxxx ;( just hack away at whatever the fic is from a different muses' perspective....

but yes, we all know inspiration is a tricksy, tricksy thing. it's all good. ♥

Well, I've never really 'maintained' the community, as a posting access is all I need for posting challenges and other things, so having that removed won't really make a big difference. xD Anyhoo, I've been in a quite of a lurker mode recently.

And yeah, the remix is still going~ I need to start writing it soon. That is, when my Akira muse will stop distracting himself all the time and work with me. -__- Luckily there's a 5 days long holiday coming up. :D

'Kay, so are there some guidelines about posting the remix fics, or do we just post them into our journals and put the link here like always? *is kinda/almost/probably finished*

i guess in the comments here :) i think most people are not going to make the deadline though D:

edit - oh sorry, i'm a bit braindead today but yeah i think that's how we're doing it seeing as no one wants to stagger the posting! i think it's better if i make a new entry. i'll do that right now.
