{Saguru could appreciate a touch of irony in a situation, as he carefully dressed in one of his two remaining outfits. He settled the openwork mask over his face, and pushed the doors of the dressing room open. For once, they opened into the room he was looking for. He glanced around, looking for a tell-tale flash of white silk, before realizing that he had no idea what the thief was wearing.}

[It was almost a pity, Kid thought as he watched the detective enter the room from a shadowy dead end nearly directly across from the entrance, that the animus hadn't supplied him with a mock sherlock holmes suit, or at the very least something in tweed.
He was dressed in his most casual outfit and a simple black mask with almond shaped eye openings that had struck him as strangely appealing when he'd found them in the locker room. He carefully pitched his voice to echo around the room, intonation a bit lower and smoother than Kaito's own.]
I must say this about you, detective, you certainly are prompt.

{At the sound of KID's voice, Hakuba stiffened. There were few things in the world that could provoke such an instintanous response from the detective, causing him to switch directly from calm to predatory without his usual smooth transitionary phases. He forced his features into a studied mask of cool distain in order to cover the near-feral grin he could feel lurking around the corners of his expression. This was a hunt, and KID the Phantom Theif was the prey.}

Hm, yes, though a bit too hard at times, I fear.
[Kid stepped out from the shadows now, head tilted to one side like a curious magpie, only the sharp sliver of a smile visible beneath the mask. Even with his feet firmly on the ground, his body vibrates like that of a hummingbird, steps as light as if he were simply floating across the ground, rather than walking.]
Too often you treat this like a collesium death match, thumbs up says the crowd and off with his head says the Queen of Hearts. But this isn't Rome, and it isn't Wonderland.
[He takes one more measured step and seems to blink out of sight, and then his voice pipes up again, behind Hakuba.]
It is only a game, my dear detective. And you are only one white knight on a board of many.
