Have I ever mentioned how much I hate you? XD

Met a guy running around expo with a 5d MkII, but he said the same thing about autofocus being a pita so he has a speedlite 430ex attached but with the actual flash disabled and just uses the red beam for AF and apparently it does magical things o.o

Haha, I'm not really going to upgrade, not unless I get a serious pay rise :P I may rent one for a few days though, just to play with :D

That's an extremely interesting idea, the red beam O_o It's the lens rather than the camera that's a problem though, I had no autofocus problems when I used it on the 400D!

Seriously, it has af problems in artificial (and low?) light? Damn, I was going to get that next...

Only on the 550, not the 400... I don't understand it, I'm gonna look into it when I have a chance!

Wonder if the 500 suffers it as well, that's what I've got. Perhaps not, the 550 was even more of a step up, but it will be interesting to find out...
