Well, comrades, I came to a conclusion over this weekend. I had been looking on Yahoo and saw that one of the headlines read that Austin,TX had been declared the #1 movie-making city in America by MovieMaker Magazine. My curiosity aroused, I did a little more research and saw that a beautiful film studio was being built not too far from the city ( Read more... )

honestly, it sounds like it has the potential to be a good move for you. but before going I'd suggest having lined the ducks up beforehand. I don't know how far Austin is from Corpus Christi, but do you have contacts there already?

yea you'd ABHOR la-la land immediately!
as an aspiring film actor it is the place to be though. you know that of course... there are a million actors out here and 120 thousand in SAG. A 1 in 134 booking ratio per average audition. A meat factory pretty much.

I have never encountered so many lost souls as I have since I arrived. It's a barren, lonely and jaded place to be.

I'm in it for the long haul though so I've just gotten used to loathing it for the most part and I'm learning how to make the most of how I can use It to benefit me.

my two sense.

good luck in Texas!

I'm not really responding to anything in this post in particular. In fact, I don't remember if I even read this one. Never mind, I did. Anyway, I just had to say that I've been reading back through your posts from 2003-2004, reliving the days of Theatre at Lamar in the only year I was fortunate enough to be a member. God, what a strange sort of nostalgia for those times, but seen through your lens, which of course skewed that a little bit. There was so much drama at that time, both on and off the stage. More than I even remembered. All in all, though, such a great read. Of course, I also happened upon your write-up of our Petsmart/Petco dead-fish-buying adventure, which amused me to no end. Everything I read tonight reminded me just how much I can't let myself grow distant from you and all the peeps from those days. You're too awesome to leave behind.
