I've been looking through this journal and I think I've been able to understand most of what's going on.

My name's Rinoa Heartilly, and I'm new around here. I'm sorry if I'm a little distant for now, but this will all take some getting used to. I'm so used to having my friends around that not having them just doesn't feel right.

It's alright to be a little distant. Everyone is when they first arrive. I mean, Most of the time you arrive without knowing anyone. That's how it was for me! You'll end up meeting a lot of nice and helpful people here, though, and I'm sure you'll make more friends!
