He knew this wasn't going to be as amicable a conversation as he had with Christine. But even if he did have romantic feelings for Abigail, a relationship with him couldn't possibly make her happy. He was the opposite of what her faith would wish in a husband. Right down to being a Papist.
It was Shrove Tuesday, and he asked her to walk with him in the CES, he could look for palm fronds - as he asked the Admiral to provide them - and hopefully...it would provide a bit of pleasantness to what was sure to be a very uncomfortable conversation.
He wore what she'd set out for him, as any good Romany husband would. And carried a large basket to gather fronds in, as they walked along a lovely Mediterranean beach. "Abigail, we need to...talk."
