The truth is rarely pure and never simple.

Who: Dorian Gray and Adrian Veidt.
Where: Floor 7, Room 1. Dorian's room.
When: Today, during the truthiness flood.
What: Dorian presses Adrian for information on the libelist who goes by the name of Oscar Wilde.
Warnings: Murder, alcohol, sex (implied).
Flood notes: Dorian is very much affected. He is also very much in his room and unreachable. He's just been traumatized, he's not coming out.

Dorian had heard something about rough waters, a warning from the Admiral, and his journal had shown him that people were concerned. He had not yet discovered what this might mean for him, but Adrian was on his way and he would be able to ask him for clarification on this point, as well as to ask him all he knew about the man called Oscar Wilde.

Dorian needed Adrian. Adrian knew this barge, he had dealt with similar situations before. Adrian would help Dorian control the damage that this book would wreak on his life once people put his existence and that of the books together. Adrian was, at least for now, Dorian's key to gaining his footing on this ship. If Dorian was to have a prayer for survival, which he knew meant finding and entering into the right circles, then he needed Adrian.

Having no idea how soon Adrian would call, Dorian set about preparing for a visitor so that he was not caught off guard. He hid his journal in the drawer of his desk and righted a chair that had become upturned during a previous mad search for the portrait, or perhaps during his recent fit of rage while reading his book. He was unused to being without his valet, and had earlier opted to pull the duvet over his rumpled bed. These were details he was not used to seeing to himself, and he saw to them poorly and with the exasperated disdain of a man for whom work of any kind was not a reality.

The room now settled as much as Dorian cared to, he sat down on the divan pulled the silver case from the breast pocket of his jacket, and lit a cigarette to pass the time as he waited.

[OOC note: Dorian just read The Picture of Dorian Gray, and has gone through all the phases of freaking the fuck out, including anger, denial, and chair throwing. He's affected for the flood, but as far as this thread goes, he is not coming out of his room. If Adrian joins him, truthiness fun may happen. Dorian may leave his cabin tomorrow, and people can truth him up then. Or he may be wise to what's happening and choose to remain in his room. He's been outed quite enough already as it is. I doubt he can handle much more.]
