[Eddie's hardly aware of Bruce until it's too late, and he manages to move his head just quickly enough to avoid a fist straight to the face-- thankfully sparing his nose from getting crushed, because boy would that suck-- but he's not fast enough to dodge it entirely. It connects with the side of his face, rattling his head, sending a throbbing pain into his temple. He's going to have a pretty horrible bruise around his eye, that was for sure.

The punch sends him sprawling to the ground, and he'd be out by now if it wasn't for the extra endurance afforded by the parasite. The symbiote's still screaming, amorphous, ropy tentacles coiling all over Eddie's skin and clothes, all while he's spitting out words about bats and killing, Parker, spiders, make them pay-- all the crazed ranting of a maniac. He pulls himself up to his knees, planning to get up and strike again, but he's significantly slowed down and the symbiote's too distressed to be much use. Another blow to the head will send him out cold.]

[ That reaction- Bruce's senses are instantly on alert. It's very familiar, that sort of ranting. He's been prey to it before, and he's seen the effects of it on far too many people. There's also a possibility as well - Crane is here, after all, and Nygma lives near him. Bruce is reasonably assured that they're friends.

This is fear gas.

Bruce reaches into his utility belt even as his other hand slams against Eddie's throat, trying to slam him against the wall. At the same time, he takes out the vial of antitoxin for the fear gas, flipping open the lip and throwing it into Eddie's face.

Then he steps back. Waits to see the effect. For the confirmation of his hypothesis. ]

[As Eddie's slammed against the wall, the symbiote reacts, tendrils reaching out to ensnare the hand around its host's neck. Before it can do much of anything, another drug is thrown into Eddie's face, making it the second one in so many hours. He coughs, gagging a little, as the tendrils retreat and the symbiote-suit regains some consistency, becoming less like a tentacled alien monster and more like its usual black version of Spider-Man's costume.

...

Unfortunately, Eddie regaining control over himself isn't necessarily a good thing. Even if he spent most of his time pretending to be an ineffectual average joe, the truth of it is: he likes being bad. He enjoys fighting, hurting, hunting. It just makes him happyHe seems to collapse back against the wall, rubbing his face, then he lowers his hands and gives Bruce a sharp grin ( ... )

[ Bruce doesn't hear those words, but he manages to read Brock's lips. Well, that's someone else who potentially knows who he really is- and the feeling discomfits him incredibly - he's just not used to the feeling of other people even knowing who Batman and Bruce Wayne are. For Nygma to know is already troublesome, and now that he's pretty sure it's Nygma who told Brock... he growls under his breath almost subconsciously.

But that train of thought has to be continued later. Bruce feels the pan moving towards him immediately, and Bruce ducks immediately, his hand moving from Eddie's throat. The pan continues to fly even when he's gotten out of its way, however, and he watches, bemused, as it slams right against the man's face. And drops to the floor with an earth-shattering clatter.

He's very glad to be still wearing the earplugs. But, more importantly- is the man neutralized? ]

[Eddie doesn't even get a chance to go OH SHIT before the pan clonks into him and knocks him out cold.

Best supervillain ever.]

[ Well, that was easy. He blinks.

Then, he grabs Brock by his collar and starts dragging him to Zero. ]

Perhaps Eddie had forgotten that Bruce had fought Bane once, and he had an superstrong, super-fast alien for a best friend. He was used to fighting metas, so it didn't take that long to bring down Brock- and the moment he saw the blond hair and that familiar face, he had a hunch about who was responsible for this. Especially when coupled with the fear gas.

And Bruce was starting to have faith in this man. This was disappointing.

He had dropped Brock off at Zero, the fear gas antidote working through his bloodstream already before heading to find Eddie. It's not that difficult when he knew how the man thought, and Bruce had learnt Edward Nygma's thought process a long time ago. He knew, and he was already giving chase, rushing up staircases without even bothering with the elevators, closing in on on his prey.

... That was unexpected, to say the least.

Bruce had less than a second to get the hell out of the way when he saw Eddie's hand on the detonator. His eyes widened- but his body was already moving even faster than his head could. Immediately, he leaped backwards, feet leaving the ground entirely as he throws himself away from the explosion. At the same time, he turns around, half in mid-air, squeezing his eyes tightly shut.

The explosion threw him several feet, and he managed to land well enough to roll away from it. His back felt like it was on fire, and there was a sharp cut on his temple from the debris that flew from the explosion that was starting to bleed. He missed his cowl more than ever, especially since it would've hidden the snarl on his face. Eddie was going to pay for this. There were burns on his thighs and back, and that was on top of the claw-marks that Brock had inflicted.

GoddamnBruce got up immediately, heading for the other stairs - since this one was obviously impassable, and running as fast as he could upwards ( ... )

Screwed was right. If he was going to use a spider metaphor - and indulge in an irony he didn't know about - he would say that Eddie was like a fly who had just flown into his web. It made him smile - a deadly, sharp-edged smile, not at all humourous. Instead, it was the smile an executioner would give right before he put your head on the guillotine. If he was so kind.

Then, he reached out and grabbed Eddie by his coat lapels. Immediately, he swung around and threw the man against the wall - hard enough that his head would meet the thing heavily. And he was still smiling, his persona was entirely that of Batman's- all that was missing was his cowl.

"I think I promised to put your head through the wall," he said, conversationally. Then, he pulled Eddie forward just a little, and shoved him until his face was facing the very thing.

"Time to live up to it."

Smack. Once.

"It is," he said blandly, and smacked Eddie's face against the wall one more time. The thud of the impact echoed around them. Bruce paused for a moment, looking at the man who was entirely at his mercy. Riddler had always depended more on his wits and equipment than physical strength, which was why it generally ended like this.

He sighed quietly. Really, even when affected, Eddie acted almost the same. Still as annoying as ever. It would be an interesting study to see how far the changes go, but right now, Bruce didn't have the time.

Grabbing a tighter hold on Eddie's collar, he turned around and started dragging the man down the stairs. At least he was grabbing him by the neck and not the feet - like this, the way down would be easier. Same bumps, but less impact.

Yes, Eddie, he was dragging you to Zero.
