I hate to be a bitch but you have to realize this is what accompanies a conviction like this. You can't expect people to be friendly to you about it. What you did was serious and though the people at the YMCA should have been more welcoming and receptive to u, its hard for people to ignore the fact that with u drunk on the road, u could have killed them or their kids. You see it as a mistake you made, but to them, your a criminal and u're just going to have to get use to it, people--in the wrong or the right, aren't going to change how they feel for you. Just accept that you did wrong,do better and be optimistic, theres better things to come...

i did accept that what i did was wrong. it was a dui case not child molestation...and anyone doing community service is obviously a law abiding citizen accepting their punishment and tryin to do better...what does the fact that i could have killed their kids driving have to do w/me working around them? u don't drive in buildings

Christians are people too, they make mistakes just like everyone else. People are so quick to jump down Christians throat, there are good people and bad people in every bunch--whether it be Christian, Muslim, Judiasm, Hindu.And yes, the YMCA is a Christian Facility, but its also a establishment with a business to run and all theyre doing is trying to continue running their business without any possible chance of liability. We all obviously know your not going to give alcohol to their kids, but some psychopath out there--only god knows why--just might, and if not that, he or she might do something else equally as crazy. Youre not a drunk nor or u a danger to the community but the next guy in line with a DUI might be. The YMCA wasn't trying to single you out or be a pain in your ass, they were protecting their business.

First, Im not a republican, im an independent. Secondly,You weren't discriminated against, Everyone with a DUI is not allowed to volunteer there, Not just you. Who's to say who is a psychopath? When a child molester molests a child and goes missing, where do they start their search? With Criminal history, in many cases there is no evidence besides what a person has done in the past.Now A DUI isn't the same as molesting a child, but its still a criminal act and in very few cases, its a start.Yes the YMCA started off as a Christian Organization but it has now emerged into a million dollar business and business is often ugly. The YMCA has paying customers and theyre paying for the best the YMCA has to offer, theyre not paying to have criminals mingle with their children no matter the severity of the crime. You can't just say, its just a DUI, cuz next it'll be, its just a Buglary, then its just a Simple Battery..then who knows...

Alright Hunter, thats right im a bitch. But Just so u know, I sincerely dont think youre a bad person and im not trying to attack you. I know u made a mistake, just like you do, one that many people can and have made, however I simply dont think the YMCA was wrong for turning u away. And you may take that anyway you want. Just dont spend your life expecting people to be friendly about what u did--they may be dead wrong for treating u that way, but its the reality of things.
