Finally got DSL up and running. I'm sharing it with my 5 housemates but so far it seems pretty fast. When we last left off I was moving into a loft downtown. I'm happy to report that I am moved in. There's still alot of stuff in boxes but I have a clothes rack (alas, no closet) and a futon bed. Future plans involve building a loft bed, putting in ( Read more... )

Thanks. It wasn't easy but now things are starting to work out nicely.

I'll have to get in touch with darkcube. I'll find him on lj and invite him to the party.

Have you personally beheaded and cleaned a fish? I think I would like to know how to do that, in spite of the fact that I can't stand fishing and that mrrranda won't let me cook fish in the apartment. Of course, I guess I might not have to cook it.

Perhaps one of you should have volunteered to put on a monkey suit to play waiter, and another to serenade with soothing music to really wow the girl, but that might not have been as much fun for the rest of you. She was probably intimidated by having a date with a handful of strangers.

Raw is definitely the way to go. First, pick out your favorite fish (I like fatty tuna) and poke the eye to make sure no goo comes out. If there's goo, you're probably going to be sick. Once you find a nice dry eye, lift up the gills and inspect for goo. If the gills are dry too, you can eat fish raw.

Cut the head and tail off. Insert knife into underside of fish and cut down the middle. You should see alot of blood ooze out. That's ok. All part of the show. Once you have the fish "open", wash with cold water and dig out all the guts(bloody stuff). That's pretty much it. I'll leave the sashimi slicing up to you. If you're going to cook it later, marinate with salt and pepper and put it back in the refrigerator.
