Attending rockshows just seems like an exercise in discomfort these days. Maybe it's because I'm approaching 30 and I'm getting stodgy. Outdoor and nonsmoking shows are more pleasant, but huge festivals have plenty of drawbacks despite the open air. I can't even remember if I sincerely enjoyed the festival shows I attended years ago, or if I just convinced myself of that because I was "into bands".
That said, I may have to endure another large scale show when NIN comes this way. I've only heard good things about the current tour, and I owe it to the high-school me.

you owe it to the high school you. I saw them perform at the Warfield theatre a few days before going to the festival and it totally rocked. 2 hrs of the best NIN songs you've ever heard. Burn, Wish, Closer, March of the Pigs, Hurt...
No gimmicks, no bullshit. Minimal lighting, heavy on the textured generating guitar riffs.
