A message to someone I've never met.

Earlier tonight, I was visiting Kari at her apartment, when I looked a ways down the street and saw a pile of stuff by the side of the road. The first thing that caught my eye were two standing lamps, which I assumed were perfectly serviceable. I went to get a closer look, and stumbled upon a friggin' goldmineThose of you who know me well are ( Read more... )

Preach it!

That also makes me wish I had had more friends to give my stuff to when I left San Antonio :/ At least one made out like a bandit.

After I graduate this semester, I fully intend to hang around EIU even as a non-student to get my just desserts. The Carman Hall dumpster alone yielded more than I could possibly carry in multiple trips. Stupid wasteful Freshmen...

i'm going to think twice before I throw anything away from now on...*lol*

This may sound a bit shady, but in my hometown of Lincoln, we have about 3 or 4 consignment stores, and I'll admit that I'm guilty of raiding even their dumpsters, marking down what items I got from which dumpster, then donating the stuff right back to different stores. >_>

Granted, a lot of the stuff I'd find truly was crap, (if a thrift store rejected it, who, really, is going to buy it?) like all the stupid porcelain figurines you see in Hallmark stores. Some of the stuff I'd find, however, deserved another shot at another store, like suitcases, clothing, etc., so I'd take something from the Pink Shutter, wheel across town, and donate it to the Salvation Army. After all, the exposure to a different clientele might actually get it to sell that time!

Maybe you just haven't been looking in the right place. I've got a fantastic book on the subject that you'd be more than welcome to borrow. Trust me, it'll help immensely, if it's a hobby you're interested in pursuing.

*big thumbs-up, toothy grin directed to the camera*

I guarantee it! :D
