Sans Shampoo Update

Well, it's been 2.5 weeks since I've used shampoo (refer to my last blog instead of thinking I've gone mad and haven't bathed in weeks). My temperament has swiftly evolved from optimistic and open-minded to self-consceous and aggravated. My hair feels/looks awful and damnit, this better start being worth it ( Read more... )

You're very brave. I'm going through a tangle crisis myself right now.

I never did anything like this, but when I was sick a few years ago I could only shampoo like once a week. It probably helped that my hair was super short. Like all above my chin.

Is the goal of this to stay off shampoo forever and always use the baking soda/vinegar?

I use a really fancy organic shampoo that isn't really a shampoo at all, more of a scalp treatment. It doesn't really sud or anything. Really expensive though, but I use it less, so it evens out, kind of.

Short hair would certainly be a plus for this grueling process.

Well, if/when I go back to shampoo, it's going to be only 1-2 times a week. After this rehab, hair should be "conditioned" (pun!) to be cleaned solely with water for the majority of the times it's washed. I guess the shampoo I will sparingly use will be as healthy as it can be, perhaps this really expensive organic shampoo you speak of. What's it called/price?

Ctonics http://www.ctonics.com/

I've seen it at your whole foods. It might be $30 a bottle. Maybe less, not more. There's pink, blue, green, and um, brown I think. Blue is good for more volume and slightlier frizzier curls, pink is for slightly less volume but more defined curls.
