Also, I finished Neil Gaiman's American Gods. It is quite brilliant, and you should read it. Yes, you. I picked up a new collection of his short stories right after finishing it, as well as a German book for kids which will be good practice after I leave this country, which is quickly getting closer and closer :(

I enjoyed American Gods.
I assume you've already read Neverwhere and Good Omens?
Smoke and Mirrors is nice too.

Yeah Neverwhere was also good (quite interesting watching the low budget series after it too), but I picked up Fragile Things rather than Smoke & Mirrors; any Gaiman short story collection will do me either way, but that's all so far - I'm compelled to read his other full novels now though, and maybe the Sandman graphic novels, which all my friends seem to absolutely love.

Wasn't sure about Stardust after watching the film but I'm guessing his writing is a lot more compelling than the film's direction...

Haven't read Stardust yet tbh so I don't know. I remember buying it years ago but for some reason I've never found the time to read it and just kinda forgot about it ^^;;

Haven't seen the film but I suppose it's not worth checking?

btw, have you seen Mirrormasks or whatever Gaiman's film was called? I was already living in SH when it was released and in the end I never got to see it but the trailer seemed interesting... :o

The film's certainly worth watching but I'm guessing that Gaiman's writing makes for a much more magical and compelling fantasy world than the film. Having seen the film first though, I now know the whole plot so it doesn't seem quite as attractive... still, I'm considering just going through all of Gaiman's books consecutively so I'll just add it in the queue somewhere! I was checking amazon before and it certainly seems to be a great book from what people are saying. So I can't exactly recommend it to you, but at the same time, I am :P

And nope, I haven't seen that, either. It sounds pretty cool (and kind of like Stardust in that it's a twisted version of classic fairy tales) so I'll give it a look!

First I'll get through all these short stories...
