New phone: Motorola A1000

I have just ordered a new phone, a Motorola A1000 from Three Mobile.

It is a PDA-like phone and runs Symbian UIQ. Among other things PuTTY and Opera are available.

I'm also about 12 months into a 3 contract (one of their "value" plans that were about before the caps came out). I was looking to replace my Sony Ericsson Z1010, but none of the sales people I talked to would offer me an upgrade. I guess I'll have to pester them some more. ;-)

The Motorola A1000 is one of the handsets I was looking at (that, the Nokia 6680, which is featureful but ugly, and the Sony Ericsson K608i, which is plain, but cheap!). After having the Z1010, I'm a little reluctant to get anything even bigger. I'd be interested to hear how it works out. Things that would be of particular interest are how good the user interface is, how well it synchronizes under Linux, the way it plays MP3s, and what its real battery life is.
