i think the reference to loving the island was that you love what came out of it.. the culture, which you're part of and so in touch with. i didn't take it as directly loving the island.. although ive been told it was once reeaally quite beautiful and has the best beaaches!

thats what i got from it.

I think you're right. i would've never thought of it like that.

But you know how the elders can get caught up in talking about the island and how much better it is then the U.S. That's probably what gave me that negative connotation. From pictures and stories, I can see that it was once a beautiful place...

Maybe when it is restored to its natural beauty and Castro is outta' office...then maybe I can take a trip down and see it for myself.
