yes, it is true that you are responsible for all damages and upkeep. But after 25 years, all the money you spent results in you owning your own home. You have something to show for the money spent. Renting, you just give someone else the money to pay for the home, and then they own it when everything is done with and you get nothing for your expenditures.

Hey, it's all part and parcel of growing up and having the American Dream :D I can't wait until the day I can afford a home, too. I love my landlord but I'm getting tired of renting.
