I could say that I've read fanfics much more IC and consistent than this chapter. It's... I'm not against characters evolving, I love characters evolving, but all the changes in the characters here were just cheap, illogical and worthy of a second rate soap opera (you know, this demythyfying of good guys and redeeming of bad guys... I can love it when done right, but this was just unbelievable, jarring, cheap and whatthefuckwereyouthinkingguys). And I understand the need to lead the story a certain way and I acknowledge that the way to do it is through a certain resource, but there are more elegant ways to introduce that resource in the story than the way they chose and it felt rushed and obvious and not at all integrated in the story. And the reactions... just, nope, no fucking way

I too was disappointed with this ep, but the 2nd one has cleared up some stuff. I think they are following their model set up for S3, where some mysterious things are happening in ep1, but don't get resolved until ep3. I just don't understand why Sherlock was texting the whole show

Yes, this 2nd ep was like a balm on my wounds, quite more better constructed and told. But I still can't forget how they are dragging John's character through the mud in a totally illogical and nonsensical way just for dramatic effect.
Wowowowow, that's some serious shit going on. But I'm incredibly glad that your dad is well on the way of recovery. What a scare, though. Hope he gets home very soon and at least you don't have to travel across the globe just to visit him.
