Judging from the historical (albeit alternate history) narrative which inspired your prose, I would theorize that Spock would have also had difficulty purging some of those emotions associated with his mother.

I have a common frame of reference. I lost my planet Vulcan when I left my universe behind. There is a planet Vulcan in this universe which bears the physical characteristics of "my" Vulcan - but it is not, and never shall be, "mine".

That was beautiful. You captured what I love about the Uhura/Spock relationship in the reboot. He needs Nyota. I hope they keep these two together in the sequel and show more of them.
