After my time in service is up, I'm going to Alaska and work a crabbing season. From what I hear, that is some damn good money for three-four months work. Like, in the 60,000-dollar range.
NO. NO. NO. You make that much money when you pull in a really good catch. And you're doing this in the north Pacific in the middle of the winter storm season, in a tiny crab boat. I don't know who told you this is a good idea, but there are much more fun ways to commit suicide.

Yeah, I just went over some information at a few company sites that concurs with you.
However, the 'average' percentage of a catch is still pretty damn good, as compared to what my CO makes. If all else fails, I could always work at a processer. Besides, I've always wanted to visit Alaska.
And for the record, suicide isn't on my "TO DO" list. I'm just using this as a (hopeful) springboard to further my wants.

It looked interesting but from memory they have one death each season, on average.
Serving in Iraq as a contractor is statistically safer.
