I went to a professional business networking meeting this morning, then to Sally's beauty supply, then to Walmart. When I came out of Walmart, I noticed someone hit my new car!

That sucks bad. Karma will get them, don't worry.

When I first got my van, in Aug.2005, brand new, I always parked as far away from other cars as possible, because of what happened to you. People just aren't careful! And if you have a better vehicle than them, I think that they bang into you on purpose. :/

That sucks. How come this always seems to happen to new cars? It probably really doesn't but it just seems to because when it's an older beat-up car we don't care so much.

What jumps out at me is that Cal thought it was an Obama supporter ramming you because of the McCain sticker. At first I hoped you were joking but I fear he was serious. It's kind of depressing that thought could be the first thing that popped into his mind.

It's not just him; I see that too much, on both sides. It's the end result of twenty years of shrill talking heads defining elections not just as contests between honest people with different opinions but apocalyptic battles between Us and Them with Them being evil fanatics that hate Us and will do anything to win.

I fear that kind of attitude -- which I know is just being done cynically to whip up the "base" and get them out to vote -- can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It was even worst. Cal even wondered if we should remove the yard sign for fear someone would run into our house with their car! I told him it was being paranoid and it is highly unlikely anyone would put themselves in that kind of danger or damage their own property.

I was bothered by that whole concept too. It never even crossed my mind until he mentioned it. Of course, I still don't believe it. I think it was simply an accident and the driver might not even have known it happened. It's just a scrape, not even a dent.

I don't think that it was your sticker that caused the problem. An Obama supporter wouldn't do such a thing. A McCain supporter might if you had an Obama sticker.

(Just kidding!!!)

You can see how things like this can get out of hand very easily.

Try some polishing compound to take off the paint scrape, or even some car wax. You may not need to paint at all.
