I tend to get sucked back into music years after the fact.  I'll find some old mix tape or CD that I made once upon a time and remember how much I loved an album that I haven't listened to in ages.  Case in point:  Blind Melon.  I had totally forgotten what a great album Soup was.  Also forgotten - it's been almost 13 years since Shannon Hoon died.

shannon hoon died before his time. he still had so much musical genius in him. soup was a penultimate and sadly ignored album. mouthful of cavities can still make me cry.

the story behind the girl singing in that song is that she was a die-hard fan who followed them around trying to convince them that she could sing well, and to please give her a chance. and so they did. and there you go, so she can.
