I think I'm constitutionally incapable of going into a charity shop without buying books. Well, at least it wasn't a complete 'here are books, I must buy them' moment - I was planning to buy Master & Commander at some point anyway. Then again, if you buy the books from a charity shop, it's a good dead, and much better for the environment than buying new copies. Besides, it's probably cheaper. And it's books! You can never have too many books - only too few bookshelves.
