The article says that an eye witness saw "Two men." and it implyed that people responsible for this have not been found.

However short of a leap it was, using the term “American Terrorism” is never the less a jump to a conclusion. There is the possibility that these men where motivated by something other racism or religious bigotry but you make that leap as well. There is the possibility that they where not even American citizens. Furthermore, conflating this with the release of a Dvd without showing actual causation or even that these men veiwed the dvd is irrational. (NOT defending the Dvd, I have never seen it.)

I agree with you though, that these men need to be brought to justice.

I use the phrase "American terrorism" because it happened on American soil.

As far as the who and why of it, I'll do you one better and concede that these two men might themselves be Muslims, trying to galvanize the Muslim community or direct media attention toward anti-Muslim agitators. (The DVD might be a red herring, but I'm certainly prepared to call its producers "anti-Muslim agitators.")

Regardless, we're talking about people who sprayed chemicals on civilians (children!) in their place of worship, and I'm not prepared to call that anything but a terrorist attack.

Not that I think Muslims are more prone to this than anyone else. Some of the Southern black churches that were torched in that rash of arsons a few years ago were burned by members of their own congregations. (I might call that terrorism, too.) My point is, people have been known to do this in the past.

I think our definition of terrorism is vastly different. The black church example you site sounds more like arson.

"Regardless, we're talking about people who sprayed chemicals on civilians (children!) in their place of worship, and I'm not prepared to call that anything but a terrorist attack."

Why not harrassment or assult? or attempted murder (if the chemical could be shown to be noxious enough.)

Seems to me that terrorism is simply using other crimes (typically violence) to effect social or political change.
