Manning fidgeted nervously and chewed on an antacid as he watched the elevator descend down from the ground floors and down to the lower levels of the BRPD headquarters. To think, just two weeks ago he had watched Dr. Krauss descend that same elevator thinking he would fix the agencies problems once and for all. That dumb German came recommended by everybody in Washington. He was supposed to put Hellboy and the rest of the agents in their place and get everything running like clockwork.
