I'm much too involved in biological research to really look at kids, but David sounds just like (the only person under 18 that I'm acquainted with)my baby cousin! Imitating others is such a surprisingly adorable quality of theirs. It's your skill, laughter_now, that makes a child character that endearing and real.
It must be interesting for Spock and Uhura to have a completely biologically human child. As, of course, only a male child of Spock's will have Vulcan DNA.

However, I have to admit I'm slightly confused - why would only a male baby have Spock's DNA. As far as I know, Star Trek canon never really said anything about Vulcan/human hybrids (other than Elizabeth in the fourth season of Enterprise), and assuming 'normal' reproductive biology, the child should have half the father's and half of the mother's DNA.

I also want to commend you for writing David so well. Usually kids in fic come across as, well, dumb adults. David actually reads like a 5 year old here, a particularly precocious one, at that, which makes him remind me of one of my favorite camp kids from last year.
And because I'm shameless... I'm just going to leave this here.

And I'm all giddy about it because writing them makes me happy, too, though I think a little more angsting will be in the future, too.
I have a niece who's about David's age in this story, and trust me she's the definition of precocious. So it came easy for this stoy, but still it's great to hear that it turnedo ut believable.
Also - don't you dare think you're being subtle here, lady. You're not half as inconspicuous as you think you are. I'll just click the link and dwelve in the possibilities...it *is* a good prompt, indeed. :D
