I really think that Chekov is a more fun character when he's not just brilliant and young. I'm pretty sure there are hidden depths there.

And the observers are interesting (not that the original episode gave enough closure on that). But according to their own code of conduct, they're doing the right thing and are simply satisfying their scientific curiosity. It is scary how helpless all other species are against that. But we'll have to see how the humans will fare. ;-)

It's been a while since I watched this episode of Enterprise, matter of fact, I'm not even sure which season it's in. But I actually like the mix-it-up with the CMO being one of the ones in the decon chamber. I like the way you have everything unfolding, also.

Just thought I'd mention, actually, Chekov at the Academy can be considered movie canon. At the end during Jim's commendation ceremony you actually see both Chekov and Sulu in the crowd, both wearing the cadet reds. It a quick pan over the audience but they are toward the bottom left of the screen, if I'm remembering correctly. It's also been a while since I watched the movie.

It's an episode from the middle of season 4, and it was a while ago that I watched it before I started answering this prompt, too.
That Bones was one of the infected was part of the prompt but it does throw a different light on the whole scenario.
And you're right, I didn't even remember seeing them at the end of the movie. Would have saved me all my Chekov research on memory alpha...
