Out of Character: Racism

Fortunately, this is mostly on the periphery of my friends list. Please don't assume I think any of you are racists.

I just have to say that if I see the term "POC" or the full version "person of colour" applied to any human being just once more, I'm probably going to scream, make an effigy in snow of the person using it and kick it to bits.

Hi Helen,

So glad you feel that way. I am what you consider a POC. I am a 55 year old African American female. But I just consider myself a person. I am not ashamed of my heritage it is just that i don't judge people that way. I have seen a lot of racism while growing up in my country but I am happy to say that my friends are everyone. I have never judged or picked a person as a friend or enemy because of their skin color and happily my children are the same way. We are all one and should judge others as we wish be be judged. Have you read President Obama's speech on racism which was delivered during the campaign. Powerful stuff. You can find it on line.

By the way I still love your stories and read everyday even if i don't comment.

Bev
