I hate politics. I always meant to get out of that particular squad of rats while I still had the time to do so.

It always amazed me that Wally was able to survive, and even thrive, in that cut-throat world. He was, by definition, the very antithesis of a politician. He was more of a public servant than a politician. That's another thing that's ( Read more... )

I keep asking Lee why he wants anything to do with this. It sounds awful.

I'd rather fly Vipers. It's much more simple, I think. Easier to know who's trying to kill you.

Hmm.

Lee would probably be able to write a book, too. And people would still be scratching their heads at the end of it, not knowing anything more about him than they had when they first started.

Do you know I hate being so good at it? The only times when I didn't make the political choice were the only times when I was feeling as if I'd made the truly right choice. Of course, most of those turned out to be unmitigated disasters, but those were the few times my conscience had the luxury of taking a night off.

You are better off in your Viper, but I think it would do politics a whole world of good if you'd take a brief trip through it.
