Apparently the Orthodox do fast quite a bit. Yesterday afternoon, two teenaged girls and their Mom came to visit us. They are members of Holy Cross parish, the little stone church. In the car after picking up Jim from the train station, Ana says to me, "Mom, give me my money."

"I don't have your money honey," I said.

"MOM give me my money," she repeated.

"I really don't have your money, honey."

"Awww, C'mon Mom?"

"Darling, I have NO Money..." I said.

"Oh, I sorry Mom."

Through laughter I said, "Yeah, me too..."

There's a cold rain falling outside this morning. The dark of night has yet to trade places with the light of day. I can hear rain hitting the awnings outside.
