The Magic Numbers
by Laura
The first download Clark got from the portal in the caves contained mainly Kryptonian history and language. Another download contained mathematics, science, engineering. And this time, he didn’t faint.
Bizarrely, or maybe not so, given this was Clark, or rather, Kal-El, Last Son of Krypton, it was the numbers that made him really, really hot. The construction, the symbols, the sheer beauty. His people had loved calculations, and all that could be gained via them. Alas, often to the exclusion of everything else in their lives.
This had clearly contributed towards Krypton’s ultimate downfall and destruction, but Kal-El didn’t want to think about that at this precise moment in time. So, still buzzing, Clark supersped to Lex’s.

Having been let in, and shown to Lex’s study, Clark stalked over to the desk.
“Clark,” Lex said simply, in greeting.
Clark didn’t miss the up-down-up look Lex gave him. “Lex,” he replied. “I just discovered something,” he continued.
“And would that be an alien something, Clark?” Lex asked.
“Yeah, Lex. The caves just gave me a load of info about Kryptonian science,” Clark said. He watched Lex’s eyes light up.
“What? What?” he asked.
Clark could see a million other questions in Lex’s eyes. “Wait, wait,” he said, smiling, “I’ll tell you everything later. But there’s one thing I can tell you now - Kryptonian numbers turn me on.”
“Kryptonian numbers?” Lex asked.
“Kryptonian numbers,” Clark repeated.
Lex seemingly considered this, and then said, with a laugh, “Well, Earth numbers turn me on.” He stood up, before pulling Clark in for a kiss. “Can you draw the number symbols for me, Clark?” he asked, when they separated.
“Is drawing them on your bare skin with my finger OK, Lex?” Clark asked.
“Perfectly,” Lex said, taking Clark’s hand, and dragging him off to bed.
