The first three are for this challenge:
http://anamatics.livejournal.com/14428.html - Drabble Challenge: Pick a novel (or book), preferably one of more than 100 pages in length, and take the first (full) sentence off of the top of page; 10, 20, 30, 40 & ect. Until you have ten (or thereabouts) quotes. Take said ten (or so) quotes and write drabbles based on them. You can use the whole quote, or just a section, even a word - all that matters is that you stay faithful to the first sentence part of the challenge.
Because of where the stories started, I used 11, 21, 31 etc, from an Arabian Nights collection. However, only 11 and 21 spoke to me.
pg 11
It is said - but Allah knows all - that there was once a powerful King, who had a beautiful Queen, whom he loved and trusted. (The Tale of Queen Shahrazad/Scheherazade)
Torchwood, Your Brilliant Mind, 100 word drabble, Jack/Suzie, PG
Suzie Costello is a amazing engineering scientist, and she is now Jack’s second in command.
She was twenty five when he hired her. The weapons lesson he gave Suzie at the end of her first week lasted just ten minutes. It resulted in them having some very pleasurable sex.
Torchwood Three has an alien glove, dredged out of the Cardiff Bay in the 1960s. For reasons they have yet to determine, it’s most effective when Suzie wears it.
The glove resurrects.
Jack knows that playing God always ends badly, but he also knows Suzie’s brilliant.
Is that gonna be enough?

Superman comics/Lois&Clark/Smallville future-fic, Teamwork, 140 word ficlet, Clark/Lois, PG
The billboard bearing their names reads: “Lane and Kent - the hottest team in town.”
All Clark’s enemies know that the same goes for Superman and Lois.
She attracts trouble, his Lois. He’s lost count of how many times she’s been kidnapped, drugged, abducted by aliens.
More often than not, the enemy forgets just who they’ve kidnapped, and restrained. When Clark discovers where Lois is being held, he’ll find her free, and the kidnappers tied up, and unconscious. Lois Lane can defend herself; her dad ensured that.
“What took you so long?” she’ll joke, hands on hips, and pretending to glare at him. “Twenty minutes, Clark.”
“Lead-lined room, Lois,” he’ll say. “Piece of cake. Anyway, I knew you had it covered.”
Then he’ll kiss her, lift her into his arms, and they’ll fly back to the Planet, to write the story up.

This smoke seemed never-ending; it rose towards the sky and then it began to spread out. (The Story of the Fisherman and the Brass Bottle)
Torchwood, Clouds, 100 word drabble, Jack/Tosh, PG
They don’t get back.
Jack promised Tosh he’d look after her, and they get married in September 1941.
Jack knows this time period off by heart, he’s been here so many times.
On December 8th, Japan attacks Pearl Harbour, and the US enters the war. June 6th, 1944 is D-Day, the beginning of the end. Victory in Europe is declared on May 2nd, 1945. In the Far East, the war drags on.
In August 1945, atom bombs are dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
No matter how many times he’s seen them, mushroom clouds still scare the hell out of Jack.

For
miss_zedem, who said in the comments on my Jack and Tosh story on the same theme that Suzie wouldn't even have finished the lesson ;)
Torchwood, Secret Weapons, 230 word ficlet, Jack/Suzie/(guns), 15, porn-ish
On Suzie’s seventh day at Torchwood, her new (incredibly hot) boss, Captain Jack Harkness takes her down to the firing range. Her engineering brain has a serious geek-out at the collection of weapons and ammunition on the table.
“You need to know how to use these,” he tells her, “though I hope you never have to.”
They protect their eyes and ears, and Jack hands her a gun. Then there’s a hand over hers on the gun, a hand on her stomach and Jack’s holding her body close to his so he can feel that she’s breathing properly...
Suzie manages just six bullets, a whole round, before she clicks the safety on the gun back on, swiftly depositing it, the goggles and the headset on the table. Then she pulls off Jack’s protection, throws her arms around him and slams her lips against his. Jack’s arms snake around her and his tongue enters her mouth.
Suzie’s rendered incapable of coherent thought.

Later, they’re in Jack’s bed, naked, and pleasantly exhausted.
“Y’know, we didn’t finish our lesson on guns,” he says, leaning over Suzie and kissing her again.
“We didn’t even start our lesson, Jack,” she points out. “Do you teach everyone like that, Mr I Have No Idea About Personal Space?”
“Yep,” he says, grinning.
Suzie rolls her eyes at Jack, before kissing him. She’s going to adore this job.

Heroes/Doctor Who, Chameleon, 170 word ficlet, Peter and Claude, Nine/TARDIS, PG
It’s... after.
After re-fuelling, in Cardiff, he tells his ship he’d rather be dead.
She tells him she would rather he’s still alive, thank you very much. There’s still far too much to do, far too many people to save, far too many lives to change. What she can do, though, is give him some of whatever once made her chameleon circuit completely operational, so he can at least sort of disguise himself, vanish, disappear, try and make the hurt go away.
***
It’s 2007, he’s in New York.
“How man--how many people have you taught before me?” a young man called Peter Petrelli asks, after commandeering his help out of him.
Far more than you can possibly imagine, boy, he doesn’t tell him.
"Come on, mate! I'll steal us a cab!" he says, instead.
Peter doesn’t immediately follow him.
"You comin' or not?" he asks.
Then Peter does decide to follow him. This boy can see an invisible man, and maybe this invisible man wants to be visible, again.
