I need some help working out a major Jack plot point for the WWI fic, please.
Jack is broken, he's battle-scarred, we know this. He was broken when we met him, all the way back in TEC/TDD.
He died in WWI, we learn in Utopia. Given his obsession with the RAF, he was almost certainly in their predecessors, the Royal Flying Corps, like he will be in my fic, and as such there's a distinct possibility that he burnt to death in a shot down plane of flimsy construction.
That's how I'm going to kill him, probably in part 8.
I've seen the ep of Heroes where Ted ends up setting fire to the Bennet house, I've seen how badly Claire is burnt.
Traumatic events, both of them, but the physical marks very quickly go away.
What I'm trying to work out is whether, with how much war he's already seen, Jack's brain is going to bother with shell-shock that time, after he dies like that, in war, and then comes back to life.
If it doesn't, isn't that almost as bad?
He can probably fake shell-shock perfectly, as well, can't he?
