One of the most challenging things about working with kids, I think, is figuring out what they could possibly be trying to say to you at any given moment. They just can't articulate things yet. I'm not saying it's not cute, or even that it's frustrating to deal with. More that it's a terribly difficult (and often rewarding) communication ( Read more... )

Wow! What an interesting insight into a fully developed and equipped mental processing unit ill-equipped with developed tools for complex communication. It is a far greater exercise in creativity in expression than we are accustomed to. I guess you get to be creative with your interpretation as well!

oh geez. Kids are dub. Do you know Piaget's Stages of Development? They're contested and rightly so, but I still think they're useful when talking to those little weirdos.

Soething fun about a lot of your kids is they probably can't conceive of conservation of nuber, ass and weight. That never ceases to ause e. You can explain/deonstrate that the tall thin glass and the short squat glass have the sae aount of chocolate ilk in the all fucking day long. Does not copute.
