It's getting fairly close to my homecoming. Only two more months. I start my summer classes only 2 days after I get home. I'm really excited about coming home but also really nervous. I'm going to miss Lyon and all of my friends here SO much. I'm so afraid that I'm going to get back to Charlotte and no one's really going to know or care that I'm ( Read more... )

You know I miss hanging out. You left shortly after I moved into this house. Now that I live here it's not as awkward or weird if you come hang out at my place haha.

I know what you mean. I was worried that moving back to Charlotte would put me into my old habits and what not... But it felt like a clean slate to me. Old hates didn't exist anymore and none of my old habits stuck. My new life / attitude I made in PA transfered here.

I still can't see myself staying in Charlotte long... But it's nice to be back here, for the time being.

Your friend up top who is speaking on the difficulty of reconciling new ideas and experiences with an old lifestyle and old friends is absolutely right. I had similar issues when I moved back from New York, and I didn't even leave the country. To be honest, I feel like most of the relationships I had in Charlotte before I left still haven't fully recovered, if at all. On the other hand, I have met a number of new friends who all seem to have, in one way or another, more cosmopolitan views on things. Shit usually works out, just expect a lot to have changed since you left and even more to change once you get back.

We should hang when you get back to Charlotte, even if only to share in our lamentations.

thank you. each new story definitely helps to comfort me.

i would definitely like to hang out with you more once back in charlotte. i've always appreciated your want for more in life than just partying and fucking around.

re-entry is definitely harder than leaving...

my advice:
-force the issue of discussing your experiences with friends. they care, but they don't know how to ask about your whole year.
-stick to whatever disciplines you plan on having for the first month. otherwise, you will slip "back into the old mindsets" all too quickly.

can't wait to hug you.
you're invited to the wedding!
