Better late than never... wrote most of this on sunday but didn't finish it and never posted. D'oh.
Oh wow, what an awesome race! It was so exciting! There was so much action!
I am so gutted for poor Adrian Sutil :( He was having such an incredible race. I am absolutely heart-broken for him. He was obviously distraught. He sounded choked up when he talked to Louise at the end of the race, and he looked like he had been crying. Poor, poor boy.
I was gutted for Nico too. He was recovering well from his two unscheduled pit stops and he was only one place off a point (which would have become 7th place after Kimi bashed into Adrian. His pass of Nelsinho was fantastic - he just went screaming through that tunnel. He was clearly faster so I'm glad he was able to make the pass (even if Nelsinho did pit at the end of that lap). He's so much fun to watch.
I thought DC's and Bourdais' crashes were well-timed. When we first saw the shot of the two cars nestled against the barrier, I thought that they had had an incident together, and I laughed when I saw the replays and realised that they'd had completely separate accidents.
I am so pleased for Mark Webber and his fourth place, he drove a good solid race, and I seem to remember him having a good race here before and then having car problems and not finishing (okay, let's be fair, when doesn't that seem to happen to him, poor guy) so that was cool. Sebastian Vettel did a great job as well, he kept his nose clean and drove a superb race. Boy done good. And Robert Kubica was awesome as well, he did a fantastic job; I especially enjoyed the part where he overtook Felipe. I love Felipe, don't get me wrong, it was just really fun to watch.
And Lewis. God, that boy can drive. He did such a wonderful job. And he was so deliriously happy at the end, bouncing in his car and then going absolutely mental once he was out of it. He's adorable :)
So many stunning drives, it really was an incredible race to watch. I think Adrian Sutil and Sebastian Vettel should be highly commended for being faultless throughout the whole race. Neither of them put a foot wrong (Adrian went out because of Kimi's mistake, not through any fault of his own), which was remarkable in that race for anyone, let alone two young, new drivers. I was very impressed. And while it sucks so much for Adrian that he did not finish and get his points, a lot of People Who Matter saw him drive his race and know what he is capable of, and this will possibly stick in their minds more because he was robbed of his finish rather than because he made it. Being seen to be good is the most important thing sometimes, I think.
I haven't enjoyed a race this much in a long time. I love the rain! AWESOME!
