F1 2008: Canadian Grand Prix
Oh WOW! What a race! That was exciting stuff.
The pit lane crash amused me somewhat. Nice to know that Lewis can make mistakes occasionally. I kinda feel bad for Kimi that he was taken out of the race like that, but at the same time, he took Adrian Sutil out last time (nothing he could have done about it really though, less his fault then that Lewis this time) and I like that neither Kimi nor Lewis got points this race, it'll make the championship much more interesting!
I think Lewis deserves the 10 place drop next time, and Nico too (much as I hate the thought of it!). If Nico had been prepared to stop for the red light behind Lewis (ie leaving a full car length behind Robert and Kimi) then he wouldn't have done crashing and front-wing breaking. It's shame it happened, because he was having an awesome race - that move he put on Alonso at the start was fantastic - but it was kinda his fault. He seems to fight really well when he's running with the big boys, but if something happens to punt him back down the pack, he seems to lose something of his fire, he still pushes and can be exciting to watch, but you get the impression he's only giving 100% rather than 110%.
And Robert. What is there to say except SQUEE! I am so, so proud of him. It's a richly deserved win. He drove a faultless race, didn't make any silly mistakes and drove the hell out of his car. I am so excited for him! It's about time BMW had a win too, and not only did they get that, they got a one-two as well, that's something special. A good job was done by all at BMW this weekend I think, it's been a long time in coming and it is well deserved.
I was excited to see DC on the podium as well - it's been far too long. Nice to see him get some good solid points as well.
It was just nice to see a podium with no McLaren or Ferrari drivers! See my housemates and I are big geeks and we looked up the previous sets of results to see when was the last time that this happened.... Malaysia 2006, that was the third or fourth race of the 2006 season, I think. It's been over two years since the podium was McLaren and Ferrari free.
It was an exciting race, with an awesome podium, and a couple of silly boys. Next please!
