OMG, JENSE! ♥ HE IS SO AMAZING. WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS MY JOY! *flails*
He was incredible. His qualifying lap yesterday was hot; he'd been having a good solid session but it wasn't brilliant and I had settled for thinking that third row was likely, second row was better and that that would be okay. Then he went and stuck it on pole, I couldn't believe it!
And today. GOD. He was perfect, he made it look so easy, so effortless. He had a great start, pulled away from the rest and kept his head down and got on with it. When he came over the radio to his pit crew I damn near cried. MONACO, BABY, YEAH! Yep, Monaco, baby; you did it Jense :)
And I laughed so much when he put his car in the wrong place. Dork :) I'm amazed that he could have the energy to get out of that car and then RUN then length of the pit straight. He'd just done a pretty punishing race, he had his heavy helmet on, and yet he still looked fresh as a daisy. That little run (sans helmet and race beforehand) would have tired me out! These guys really are incredible athletes.
I keep thinking that his smile cannot get any bigger, and then he gets another pole or another win and he proves me wrong. I am AMAZED by his progress this season; it is better than I could ever have hoped for. And it's still not old for me. I am still giddy with excitement every time he gets a pole or a win. He is incredible.
As for the rest of the drivers; I'm glad that Felipe and Kimi did so well, although I have enjoyed chuckling at Ferrari's antics and misfortunes recently. Rubens drove and excellent race too, and he looked happier this weekend, which was good.
I thought Nico drove excellently and it was good to see him getting some solid points. I REALLY enjoyed watching him lead the race for one lap; that totally made me day (up until Jens won anyway :)). It was a shame he didn't finish higher, but that seemed to be the best he could get out of the car. Those Williams cars seem good at practice and qualifying and seem to start a race well but they seem to go off a bit throughout the race and give the drivers nothing left to push with when they need to. For all the Frank Williams said that they have been showboating in practices (which yeah, we kinda guessed, but I still love seeing Nico's name at the top of the timesheets ♥) there was no showboating in qualifying. Nico came fastest in Q2 purely on his own merits and I thought he was awesome :)
Poor Lewis though, his race was really over before it began, his little moment yesterday saw to that. It's a shame because Heikki looked good before he crashed so the car clearly had some pace, Lewis was just nowhere he could really take advantage of that. Better luck next time, I guess.
But Jense, oh Jense. ♥ ♥ ♥
