Yup, brilliant, brilliant match. I started off cheering for FedEx but Andy showed so much grit that I nearly switched. I would have been happy whoever won. Great, great match.
It was a fantastic match. I probably should have been supporting Federer from the start, given that Roddick put out Murray and all, but the semi-final win obviously meant so much to him that I really wanted to see him go all the way.

I agree with pretty much everything you wrote here. *g* I, too, went "Somebody give him a hug!!" when poor Andy was sitting miserably on his chair while Roger did his lap of honour with the trophy. I was glad when someone finally wandered over and gave him a little comforting pat on the shoulder! And yeah, Andy was so much stronger for most of the match, I was convinced he would win it. Roger seemed completely incapable of breaking his serve, so it looked pretty inevitable. Still can't believe Roger got lucky just when it mattered the most! As thrilled as I was, you couldn't help but feel heartbroken for Andy who obviously wanted it so much. It was a heroic performance. Like I wrote in my LJ yesterday, I do hope he picks up another title of his own at some point in the coming months... now that Roger's got his record, I think he can afford to let someone else have their moment. ;) Totally agreed that after a match like that, it's a shame they couldn't both win!

Me too. I really thought he would do it; he was getting so many points off Federer on his serve, even if he wasn't managing to break, and just steamed through his own service games. But as the final set went on he seemed to run out of energy :( Great, great match.
Like you, I really hope he picks up another title after this - he really, really deserves it!
