Mum and I just caught up on the Downton Abbey Christmas special....
MARY AND MATTHEW! THEY ARE ENGAGED! THERE WAS SMILING! AND HUGGING! AND KISSING! And about bloody time, frankly! I'm so glad they finally got themselves sorted out. They have such great on-screen chemistry and it really shone throughout this episode, and the last scene was delightful. Especially Matthew's "I have no forgiven you. In my mind, there is nothing for which you need forgiveness." ♥
Also, BATES ISN'T DEAD! His trial was heartbreaking :( And I was so worried they were going to kill him. For all that it was a Christmas episode and I was pretty sure they wouldn't do anything too drastic, I was Concerned. Bates and Anna are so adorable. He needs to get pardoned right now so they can finally have some happiness, but I guess that will be the saga of season 3. ♥
I loved the little hints to Sybil and Tom too. Married! Pregnant! ♥
And I'm glad Isis was okay too. That dog is adorable.
Of course, although the entire cast is really excellent, Maggie Smith stole the show. I especially loved here reply to Carlisle's "You wouldn't see me again, Lady Grantham": "Do you promise?" PRICELESS. And so perfectly delivered. ♥ ♥ ♥
