In about 11 years! ESA have had a call for astronauts only 3 times, and they have typically been spaced 14 years apart. If that trend holds good, then I'm looking at an 11 year wait as the last call was in 2009. If I'd seen it, I totally would have applied! But alas, I did not.
NASA recently announced it was looking for astronauts and, for a bit of a laugh, I checked out the requirements to apply, thinking that I would no way be eligible. But I am! I am eligible! I tick all of their boxes! Except for one: I am not an American citizen. Curses.
I would never get the job, because while I might be eligible, so are a lot of other people, and I'm sure there are people better suited than me. But god, I would LOVE to apply, to say that I had tried. So I'll have to wait another decade or so for ESA :(
