Telescope

We have a friend in NYC who runs the Inwood Astronomy Club.  We asked him several months ago for recommendations on telescopes.  He pointed us toward Celestron.  I investigated and then, after looking at the prices, decided to wait.

Tonight, I won at local auction a brand new Celestron and paid $340 US.  :)  I am quite happy.  Here is the model:

That should give you decent views of planets. You'll see Saturn's rings clearly, and depending on your sky transparency you may be able to see cloud belts on Jupiter.

If that's the type of telescope I looked through the time I went to the Inwood Astronomy Club, you've made an excellent choice!

I hope so. I'm quite excited about trying it out.

My understanding is that Jason has done a remarkable job with IAC. It seems very active. I don't know him personally, but he and David work together.
