I grew up in SoCal and my mom made us carry a water bottle, trail mix, and space blanket to school every day. I wonder if I'd do that to my kid. Probably.

ha, that's funny! We had to bring in an earthquake kit (complete with space blanket) to be kept in our classrooms. I think I will probably make my new earthquake kit sans space blanket!
