The amount of people in my theatre class who didn't know who Cole Porter was is absolutely sickening. I'm sad for them.

Those poor unfortunate souls...their knowledge of theatre doesn't extend beyond Shakespeare, Disney, and the Movie version of RENT, does it?
I recommend forcing them to watch De-lovely...just for the songs...

I agree, they need to know these things before auditioning for the acting program. It was depressing, my prof comes in with books to help people with their audition for the acting program and one of them is a Cole Porter songbook and she holds it up and a girl said "who's Cole Porter?" This resulted in a short class discussion, the outcome being the discovery that about half my class had NO IDEA who Cole Porter was. I didn't know whether to make fun of them, or cry...
