Aww this is so great! I really loved this! Honestly, when I read about the "blue eyes" in the fake-cut I thought they were Castle's but the small frame bit confused me. And then I read the next bit. Loved the desperate and almost insane undertone. Well, it took her near-death to get to meet her mother.

What I love is the sense of utter confusion as Kate zips between the chaotic and scary (to her fevered mind) operation theatre and the Elysian feel of her mother's presence. It seems so *right* that Johanna would be there to take care of Kate in that other land.

I wonder if there are many Kate-Johanna ficlets before her murder, anywhere? And Johanna's eyes are actually blue? Like cannonically blue? Coz I like thinking that Kate got her greenish ones from her mother.
