Chapter 6 By early evening Jaejoong and Changmin were sufficiently drunk. They had spent the time Yoochun had been gone drinking a copious amount of alcohol and their conversation had altered back and forth from friendly banter to hateful arguments; their swears ranged from declaring blood brotherhood to vowing rivalry and everything in between. Junho had never been so amused by two patrons until he was forced to cut them off. However, by then, he didn’t know what to do with the two inebriated men. After much thought, Junho fetched his younger brother, and he and Junsu hauled the two men up to Yoochun’s room above the Saloon to sleep off the drink. The task had not been easy as the drunken men were behaving as difficultly as a pair of five year olds.
Each was unceremoniously tossed onto the bed by a Kim brother. Changmin rolled to his side with a groan. He had never drunk so much liquor in his life and he planned never to do so again. It was all this hyung’s fault and just as soon as he could stand on his own - and the room stopped spinning - he would be sure to give the older man a piece of his mind … and maybe ask him why he smelt so good.
Jaejoong sat up slowly; Changmin’s soju scented breath was too hot on the side of his face. Stupid brat. He looked around the room and figured that this is where Yoochun had been staying. He should be with Yoochun now instead of with the Sheriff - who can’t even drink properly. Jaejoong was startled by the hiccup that suddenly came from the man beside him. Changmin giggled and Jaejoong forgot why he was so mad at him for a moment.
“Yah! You hold your liquor worse than any of my six younger sisters!” Jaejoong scolded; mad that he had been so easily distracted. Changmin shot up to protest the remark only to groan in pain.
“Alright Jaejoong-shii. Put ‘em up. I’ve been waiting to thrash you all day.” Changmin raised both fists and squinted so that three Jaejoongs became only one again.
“You’ll have to stand up, dongsaeng, if you want to get that beating.” Jaejoong laughed but swayed a little himself.
“You are a real son of a bitch, you know that, hyung.” Changmin rose off the bed at the pace of a snail.
“I’ve been told that once or twice before. Now stop stalling, kid.” He smirked.
Changmin growled. He was going to wipe that smirk right off Jaejoong’s face. He charged at the man and they landed ungracefully on the floor, engaged in a heated kiss. Changmin pulled away quickly. One minute he had been thinking of the man’s lips the next he was kissing him! He never meant to kiss Jaejoong!
Jaejoong shoved Changmin off him and sat up. “What the fuck! Is this how you show your devotion to Yoochun! Good thing I showed up before you toyed around with him!” He rose with a scoff and moved to settle back on the bed. Changmin felt his face flush with anger. He cared for Yoochun, he knew he did. How dare Jaejoong accuse him of something otherwise!
“And I suppose you were trying to fight me off with your tongue in my mouth!” He too rose but took a seat in a chair, away from the other man. “That how you show your undying love for Yoochun?” A moment of silence passed.
“We’re screwed!” Jaejoong threw himself back on the bed and Changmin nodded to himself in agreement. Things had been complicated enough, and now he and Jaejoong had a sexual tension building between them that Yoochun would be sure not to miss when he returned - if he did. God he hoped Yoochun would come back soon.
“I miss him too, but don’t worry dongsaeng; he’ll come back.” Jaejoong answered with a rueful smile and then tossed a pillow from the bed to Changmin to use for the night. That is when the younger man realized he had been thinking out loud.
“Dear god, help us.” Changmin’s last words seem to echo in the room as they each settled down to sleep on opposite sides of the room.
Seung-Heon rode up to a small cabin that was a little rundown. It seems that the last time his cousins had been here they had left a great mess behind. He snorted in dissatisfaction. After he got those boys out of jail he would make sure he taught them a lesson they wouldn’t soon forget. He cracked his knuckles; enjoying the thought of bringing some hurt upon his foolish family members. As he brought the horse to a halt, the man in front of him was jerked forwards and back.
Yoochun groaned as his head was snapped back. It was the second time he had taken a blow to the head that week. He was sure that if he got out of this alive he’d either be missing a few years of memory or would be unable to read ever again.
“Oh, is the little whore awake.” Seung-Heon roughly pushed Yoochun off the horse and the younger man fell to the ground and moaned in discomfort. His shoulder too was now throbbing and seared with pain. Seung-Heon jumped down from his horse and tied the animal to the post by the front steps of the small house. He lifted Yoochun up by his bound arms and caused another moan of pain to leave the man.
“Not surprising that these are the only sounds a whore can seem to make.” He kicked the door open and threw Yoochun across the room. The landed with a thud on a small bed, grateful to have fallen on the soft surface.
“Getting you excited, am I?” Yoochun sneered back with a flip of his hair. He needed to stay strong.
Seung-Heon kicked the door closed and stalked towards him with a predatory look - different than the one Yunho usually wore around him. This man was far more sadistic.
“I do take great pleasure in causing others pain.” The iciness in his voice sent a shiver down Yoochun’s spine. “Let’s see how loud I can make you scream.” He pulled back his long duster jacket to reveal a whip clipped to his belt at his hip. He snapped the leather rope once, enjoying the way Micky’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he tried to swallow down his fear.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Yoochun pressed himself into the corner. He flashed back to the night he had met Jaejoong. He needed to see his hyung again - and Changmin. He can’t have his life end this way.
“And why wouldn’t I want to give you what you deserve?” Seung-Heon removed his long coat and tossed it behind him before he began to roll up his sleeves.
“If you’re planning on trading me for your cousins then I’m only good to you in one piece.” Yoochun tried to reason with the man.
“I’m sure a few nicks here and there won’t be a problem.” He said matter-of-factly.
A high-pitched whining sounded from under the bedroom window. The cries were accompanied by a loud stomping. It was early in the morning, still night really, and Changmin growled as he was awoken by the commotion. His joints were stiff from sleeping on the cold floor but there was no way he would have crawled into bed with Jaejoong.
“What is that god forsaken racket?” Jaejoong huffed. Changmin shrugged in response and tried not to smile at the man’s bed head. He stood and made his way to the window but, as the sun had yet to risen, it was hard to tell what exactly was going on.
“I think a horse got loose?” He suggested with a yawn. As if on cue, Junsu burst through the door, oil lamp in hand.
“It’s Polaris!” he exclaimed but both men just looked at him dumbly. He sighed in exasperation. “Chunnie-hyung’s horse! He returned tonight without hyung!” It was all he needed to say to have both men fighting to scramble down the stairs ahead of each other.
Outside the Saloon, Junho was trying to calm the horse down. “Whoa there boy. It’s alright Polaris.”
“Is he injured?” Changmin asked as he slowly approached the agitated beast.
“Bastard!” Jaejoong cried out after Changmin who had forced his way ahead of him; he came running out with one boot still in his hand. The horse let out a cry and he cringed. “Sorry.” He said sheepishly as he slipped on his boot.
“Polaris seems to be okay. He was well enough to find his way back here somehow but I’ve never seen a horse this spooked before.” Junho said, finally getting a hold of the reigns.
“Yah! Settle down agi-ah!” Junsu yelled out and the beast stilled. The three men turned to him with stares of awe, mouths hung open.
“How the hell did you do that?” Jaejoong asked when no one else said anything.
“I saw Yoochun-hyung do that a couple of times whenever Polaris acted up.” He explained as he used the lamp still in his hand to check the horse over for injury as Junho fed the creature a carrot he had in his shirt pocket. “He seems alright, but where could Chunnie-hyung be? You don’t think he is hurt, do you?” The worry in Junsu’s voice reflected everyone’s feelings. Junho pat his brother on the back to comfort him but no one said anything to confirm the younger brother’s worries either way.
“Yoochun rode West. I’ll saddle up my horse and go looking for him.” Changmin said and headed towards where his horse was resting.
“I’m going with you.” Jaejoong said as he too headed for his own horse. Changmin looked over to him and gave a curt nod. If Yoochun was in trouble they would find him faster if they worked together.
Junho tied Polaris to the hitching post. “Wait a moment and I’ll fetch you some supplies in case you find him injured. Junsu go fill a canteen with some water.” Junsu obeyed his brother’s orders and hurried inside. Several minutes later the brothers emerge. Jaejoong and Changmin were raring to go.
“Be careful hyungs.” Junsu said and Junho passed the men a makeshift medical kit and some water. They nodded and took off; the sun rising behind them.
