It was my first year of college too. I got up just in time for class, and when I came back I checked my phone messages. I had one from a friend of mine from high school in Northern Virginia, and she said, "Oh my god you need to call home or call someone because someone just blew up the pentagon." Okay, now obviously that was a bit of a stretch. All the same, I couldn't get through to home until later that night. The rest of the semester my mom kept calling me telling me about what it was like to drive past the pentagon when it was still on fire, and how much she wanted to kill herself. It still hits her pretty hard, I guess. I wonder sometimes how it hit other parts of the country.
