I can't blame this dream on Dr. Who, even though that's the last and most recent place that I've seen the walking dead. I had a dream last night that took up the majority of the night. I was in a monstrosity of a Catholic church -- something with the level of complexity and size that I imagine the Vatican must be at -- and running away from the church elders. I used lesser-known stairwells, secret passages, etc. and seemed to know exactly where I was going the entire time. It seemed as if I were hiding for days when I finally encountered my first Cepter.
The term Cepter in my world refers to the character in a game Culdcept that you play, who controls the cards in play and places them strategically on the game board -- it's Magic: The Gathering combined with Monopoly. In my dream, the Cepter here was a spirit guardian of the church. It was adorned in lush robes, lined with gold, and its flesh was sunken, shriveled and blackening. It explained to me that I was to take its place in Service.
No wonder I was running. :P
I am taken before the elders, where I meet another Cepter who is fresh and beautiful in her robes. In examining evidence in the chapel, I determine that the fresh and beautiful Cepter is actually older than the one I'm replacing. When inquiring about how this could possibly be, I am stonewalled. In private meditation over the task I've been given, I'm informed by a sympathetic participant that I'm in danger in this process, and it would be best for me to get far away.
I do just that. I run.
I find other potential Cepters along the way -- these are even younger than I, including twin boys in their early teens. We hop in a small car with a sunroof and speed off into the extensive grounds of the church, only to find that the car is being controlled remotely, and is heading for a pitch-black lake. I force the windows open and, one by one, toss my companions from the moving car, finally jumping out, myself. We run into the nearest building as the car turns around and heads in our direction.
Finally, safe inside, we search for a way to get off of the grounds and find... zombies. These aren't your typical grey flesh-eating zombies, mind you -- they're pus-filled mutations of human beings, much like one of the plagues from The Mummy. Good thing I'm a martial artist in the majority of my dreams.
God, I have weird dreams. The unfortunate thing is that these kinds of dreams result in me being unrested in the morning. I wake up feeling that I haven't slept at all, which certainly explains the incredibly dark circles forming under my eyes. Augh.
Other updates:
- The dog is still under the mistaken impression that the couch is hers. Part of me wonders if I'm going to have to pee on the couch to keep her off of it.
- Dr. Who is my new favorite weekly.
- This is shocking. No, really it is. No one could have forseen that. Thank God we've got our priorities straight, though.
- Career Hunt is still on. I'd be attending mortuary school already if there were one nearby.
Goals for the Week:
- 2 visits to the gym. Mornings, afternoons, don't matter -- I just need to start going again.
- 10 new items on eBay.
Yes, I'm starting small, but big goals tend to thwart my ability to achieve, so I'm lowering the bar, baby!
